2019 Cobra Challenge

The Cobra Challenge never disappoints.  This event offers the wrestler the ability to self select skill level and offers a great mix of experienced wrestlers with novice all in the same gym.  Similar to the Winchester events in early November we had some wrestlers hit their first tournament of the season.  Carson Stroud had his first tournament in 2 years and managed to go 3-1 on the day.  Billy Tyler had a very impressive final match to lose to the champion in a very close match that could have gone either way ending in a 3-4 1 point deficit, but showing some aggressive application of instruction.  Landon put on a clinic today of technique that he took from the practice room to competition.  Angel is adjusting well to a new level of more advanced competition and has a very bright future.  Corey put on an impressive display competing well against some very tough competition.  Below are some pics that help capture the day.

First Tournament of 2019 Pinning Down Autism in Winchester VA

This tournament was a great opener for the Virginia Patriots.  As a coach I left feeling that everyone had a great mix of competition.  Everyone was challenged and lessons learned.  We had the following participants :  RJ Phelan, Logan Katz, Owen Clayborne, Wyatt Carter and Billy Tyler.

On the same weekend we had Evan Sanati, Andre Krajic and Nick Marck competing at a high level dual event in MD.  All 3 completely dominated and executed some technique that we worked on the prior week.
